A 2.5D acoustic finite element method applied to railway acoustics

چکیده

Railway acoustic problems commonly have a constant cross-section and uniform properties in the longitudinal direction. To solve such 3D with reduced effort, wavenumber domain finite element (2.5D FE) method is introduced which of meshed third dimension represented by transform. The thereby decomposed into combination wavenumbers x direction y-z plane. extended to exterior noise including perfectly matched layer (PML) bespoke absorption prevent reflection sound waves at boundary domain. as presented can be used 2D solutions from commercial software. verify application 2.5D FE for interior problems, attenuation tunnel predicted compared existing measurements. implementation an example given distribution on side surface train due compact source below it. comparison obtained models measurements shows good agreement both validation cases. then investigate effect walls external comparing results case open field. A highly reverberant field found tunnels, increases pressure level side-surface above 250 Hz about 10 dB ballasted track further 6 slab track.

Javanese Gong Acoustics and Its Modeling using Finite Element Method

In Central Java, the Javanese Gong is one of prominent gamelan instrument to mark the end of musical passage. The Gong is a distinctive percussion instrument because of its wave-like sounds after being struck immediately due to its traditional manufacture procedures. Spectra for the gongs vary substantially due to variation in shape and size, and to dimensional irregularities created during man...

Explicit Finite Element Method Applied to Impact Biomechanics Problems

Biofidelic numerical models require accurate geometry, material properties, representative loading conditions, and proper verification and validation based on relevant experimental studies. Imaging techniques such as CT or MRI are typically used to generate anatomically correct model geometry. Accurate biological material properties and constitutive models present a challenge s...

An Extended Finite Element Method Applied to Levitated Droplet Problems

We consider a standard model for incompressible two-phase flows in which a localized force at the interface describes the effect of surface tension. If a level set method is applied then the approximation of the interface is in general not aligned with the triangulation. This causes severe difficulties w.r.t. the discretization and often results in large spurious velocities. In this paper we re...

Analysis of High-order Approximations by Spectral Interpolation Applied to One- and Two-dimensional Finite Element Method

The implementation of high-order (spectral) approximations associated with FEM is an approach to overcome the difficulties encountered in the numerical analysis of complex problems. This paper proposes the use of the spectral finite element method, originally developed for computational fluid dynamics problems, to achieve improved solutions for these types of problems. Here, the interpolation n...
